Supporting 100 Cambodian Girls With Menstrual Hygiene Kits and Education
In Cambodia, many girls face the harsh reality of period poverty. A lack of resources, education and access to proper hygiene products puts them at greater risk of infection and reproductive health issues.
During menstruation, without adequate support, many resort to using rags for days, and only a quarter of them have access to clean facilities to manage their periods. These challenges often lead to girls missing school and being socially isolated.
In partnership with Human and Hope Australia (HHA), we provided menstrual hygiene kits to 100 girls in Siem Reap. Each kit contains three reusable cloth pads, soap and a discreet carry pouch for washing and storage.
Local female teachers implemented the project in collaboration with HHA’s newly established social enterprise, called the HOPE Sewing Enterprise. The enterprise employs graduates from the sewing program who make the menstrual pads and pouches.
In addition to receiving the kits, the girls participated in interactive workshops to learn about safe menstrual hygiene practices, proper cleaning and drying methods, and the environmental and health benefits of reusable products.
Thank you for your purchase. You have helped 100 Cambodian girls take a step toward managing their periods with confidence.
