Stitching a Brighter Future

12-Month Sewing Project in Cambodia with Human and Hope Australia

Our initiative in Cambodia continued with a 12-month sewing program designed to help six women develop sewing skills and improve their standard of living.

Over the course of the year, they participated in practical lessons covering everything from sewing techniques to business fundamentals. The women learned to create a variety of garments, including women’s shirts, men’s shirts, men’s pants, and girls’ skirts. They were trained with detailed, guided instruction.

In addition to technical training, the women received guidance on managing income, budgeting effectively, and starting a small business. Each participant also received a monthly food package and a petrol stipend to ease the financial burden while attending classes.

At the end of the program, six women received sewing machines through microfinance loans, giving them the opportunity to start their sewing business and build a better future.
